Wylie Acting Group Auditions

Encore: A Musical Cabaret is an exciting, high-energy production that brings together the best of musical theater, showcasing a variety of songs that highlight the brilliance of live performance. A cabaret-style show offers performers the chance to shine in a relaxed, intimate setting with an emphasis on musical and acting talent. It’s a celebration of all things Broadway, from Golden-Age classics to contemporary hits, and everything in between!

A cabaret night is all about the magic of the moment. Audience members get to experience an engaging evening filled with beautiful music, charming performances, and creative staging. Whether it’s a heartfelt ballad or a lively ensemble number, Encore: A Musical Cabaret will be a night to celebrate Broadway and Family!

Auditions are open to performers from current 7th graders through adults
(plus 1 male and 2 females in grade 1-6)

Audition Requirements: Saturday, January 4th, 2025, at 8:30 am

Auditions will be held in-person, at Wylie Acting Group Theatre – 205 Industrial Ct., Wylie, TX. Please dress appropriately and expect to have your photo taken after you have signed in. Please do not bring props to the audition. Also, the casting committee requests that you do not wear costumes or face paint. Be sure to bring a water bottle and snack.

To audition please sing 1 minute of the song from the show you feel highlights your voice the best. Please bring the track on your phone that you want to sing along to-just make sure it does not have vocals. Feel free to partner with others if you want to sing one of the duets or group numbers but we want to be sure we hear you sing on your own during the selection.
We also need 3 younger actors (1 male and 2 females between 1st through 6th grade). The Male should sing King of New York, and the Females should sing Maybe

Rehearsals: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays

First rehearsal is Monday, January 6th. Attendance by all cast and crew at the first rehearsal is required and nonnegotiable. Generally, weekday rehearsals will be from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm. An in-depth rehearsal schedule is provided at the first rehearsal. Additional rehearsals may be called, if needed. Rehearsals may be limited to small groups with various arrival and dismissal times. Rehearsal attendance is crucial, but no absences are allowed unless disclosed in registration form conflicts. Inability to attend rehearsals affects casting eligibility.

Family Volunteer Expectations:

Family participation is a natural part of the community theatre experience. We expect each family to contribute approximately 10 hours to the production prior to performances (set building, work inside the theatre, show promotion, etc.) plus working before, during, or after most performances. Volunteer positions will be reviewed at the first rehearsal.
